DOMS (Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness) occurs 24-72 hours post workout. Caused by tiny micro tears in your muscles, DOMS is the reaction of inflammation in your muscles as they repair themselves. Some facts about DOMS:
*Proper warm up helps reduce the severity of DOMS. Increasing your muscles by just 1 degree Celsius makes a difference!
*DOMS is reduced as your body adapts to the exercise demand placed upon it. That is why new exercises and routines give you DOMS in the beginning, but it fades over time.
*DOMS is a sign your body is reacting to physiological stress, and it will adapt and become stronger and more ready to handle the stressors moving forward.
*DOMS will reduce your strength while your muscle heals.
